Biography
Howard A. Rodman is a screenwriter, novelist and educator. He wrote the screenplay for Joe Gould's Secret (2000), which opened the Sundance Film Festival, and Savage Grace (2007), which premiered at Cannes. His other screenwriting credits include August (2008) and staff writer duties on the series The Idol (2023).
Rodman contributed teleplays to the Showtime anthology series Fallen Angels (1993–1995). He is a former president of the Writers Guild of America, West (2015–2017), a vice president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and professor and former chair of the writing division at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He has also served as an artistic director of the Sundance Institute Screenwriting Labs.
