Biography
Howard Hughes (1905–1976) was an American film producer and director. He entered the film industry in the mid-1920s after inheriting his family's business interests and moved to Hollywood, where he founded the Caddo Company.
Hughes produced several notable films, including Hell's Angels (1930), which he also directed, The Front Page (1931), Scarface (1932) and The Outlaw (1943), which he both produced and directed. His productions were often marked by high budgets, technical innovation and conflicts with censors. He later acquired a controlling interest in RKO Pictures in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
