Biography
Huang Wen-ying is a Taiwanese production designer, art director and costume designer. She graduated from National Tsing Hua University and obtained master's degrees in theatre production from the University of Pittsburgh and in art design from Carnegie Mellon University. From 1990 to 1996 she worked in theatre design on Broadway in New York.
Since the mid-1990s she has collaborated regularly with director Hou Hsiao-hsien. Her credits as production designer include Goodbye South, Goodbye (1996), Flowers of Shanghai (1998), Millennium Mambo (2001), Three Times (2005) and The Assassin (2015); on the latter she also served as costume designer. She is a co-founder of Sino Movie Multimedia Network Co., Ltd. and has received Golden Horse awards for art direction and costume design.
