Hudson Williams

In Heated Rivalry (2025), Williams makes Shane Hollander's feelings visible through small changes of expression and restrained movement. Opposite Connor Storrie's Ilya Rozanov, he makes the attraction between rival hockey players convincing before the writing has explained much about either man. There is enough happening in their responses to keep us interested when the dialogue gives them little help. We rate Williams here for his attention to his partner, and for making that attention worth watching.

His early work included self-produced short films, taking on writing and directing as well as acting. Small television parts in Allegiance (2024) and Tracker (2025) preceded the breakthrough of Heated Rivalry. The move to a sustained romantic lead matters because his quiet physical choices have time to register. Shane remains the substantial performance on which our view rests.

Jacob Tierney, the series' creator, writer and director, takes sexual attraction seriously and gives it plenty of screen time. The intimate choreography leaves Williams and Storrie room to respond to each other, and those responses make the growing affection believable. We were won over by the tenderness in these scenes, where both actors make the care between the men as convincing as the desire. The familiar progression from antagonism to affection works because both actors give us reasons to follow it.

Our warmer individual praise went to Storrie for making the melodrama seem like something a person might actually be living through. Williams deserves his share of the credit without being credited with repairing the thin writing. His dual role as Henry Park and Logan in the mystery thriller YAGA (2026) offers a different test of his physical choices. We would look there for a clearer sense of what changes when he is asked to build two distinct characters. Start with Heated Rivalry for the lovers, with modest expectations of the sport.
