Biography
Hugh Beaumont (born Eugene Hugh Beaumont) was an American actor and television director. He appeared in numerous films during the 1940s, including The Seventh Victim (1943) as Gregory Ward, The Blue Dahlia (1946), Objective, Burma! (1945) and several entries in the Michael Shayne detective series.
Beaumont is best known for portraying Ward Cleaver in the television series Leave It to Beaver (1957–1963), a role he also directed in some episodes. He trained at the University of Chattanooga and the University of Southern California, from which he received a Master of Theology degree, and was licensed to preach by the Methodist church.
