Biography
Hugh Bennett (1892–1950) was an American film editor and director. He worked as an editor on numerous productions from the mid-1920s onwards, including Arrowsmith (1931), Street Scene (1931), The Great McGinty (1940), If I Were King (1938) and I Wanted Wings (1941). He was under contract at First National (1926–29), Goldwyn/United Artists (1931–32) and Paramount (1933–41).
Bennett also directed several entries in the Henry Aldrich comedy series for Paramount in the early 1940s, such as Henry Aldrich for President (1941), Henry Aldrich, Editor (1942) and Henry and Dizzy (1942). His final credited work as editor was on Champagne for Caesar (1950).
