Biography

Hugh Millais (1929–2009) was a British actor. He appeared as Butler in Robert Altman's McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), Marcel in Images (1972) and Roy Endean in The Dogs of War (1980). His other film roles included Uncle Martin in The Wicked Lady (1983) and the US Colonel in Chicago Joe and the Showgirl (1990). He also appeared in British television series such as The Ruth Rendell Mysteries, Kavanagh QC and Foreign Affairs.

Millais was educated at Ampleforth College. His acting career began after he was spotted in a bar in Pamplona and introduced to Altman. He was the son of painter Raoul Millais and the great-grandson of Pre-Raphaelite painter John Everett Millais.
