Biography
Hummie Mann (also credited as Hummy Mann) is a Canadian-born American composer, conductor and orchestrator. Born on 29 October 1955 in Montreal, Quebec, he graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music in 1976 and moved to Los Angeles in 1980.
He is known for his scores to the Mel Brooks films Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) and Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995), as well as Thomas and the Magic Railroad (2000). Mann has also worked as an orchestrator on films including Addams Family Values and Sister Act, and as a conductor on City Slickers (1991).
He won two Primetime Emmy Awards, one for arranging Billy Crystal's opening number at the 1992 Academy Awards and another in 1996 for the Picture Windows episode "Language of the Heart". In 1997 he founded the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program in Seattle, which later merged with the Seattle Film Institute.
