Biography
Humphrey Barclay is a British comedy executive and television producer. Born on 24 March 1941 in Dorking, Surrey, he was educated at Harrow School and read Classics at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he participated in the Footlights.
Early in his career Barclay produced the sketch series Do Not Adjust Your Set (1967–69). He later worked at London Weekend Television before founding Humphrey Barclay Productions in 1983. The company produced Hot Metal (1986–88), Desmond's (1989–94) and Surgical Spirit (1989–95). He served as executive producer on the first series of Spaced (1999).
Barclay has held senior comedy roles at LWT and Granada, and continued producing series including Birds of a Feather (2014–16) and Hold the Sunset (2018–19).
