Biography
Iaia Forte is an Italian actress. Born Maria Rosaria Forte on 16 March 1962 in Naples, she trained at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome.
She made her professional stage debut with Toni Servillo and has worked extensively with the Teatri Uniti company, as well as directors including Mario Martone, Leo de Berardinis and Emma Dante. Her film breakthrough came with Pappi Corsicato’s Libera (1993). She is known for roles in Luna e l’altra (1996), The Great Beauty (2013) as Trumeau, Leopardi (2014) as Mrs Rosa, Euphoria (2018) as Viola and The King of Laughter (2021) as Rosa Gagliardi.
Forte has received two Nastro d’Argento awards, a Globo d’Oro and a Sacher prize for her performances.
