Biography

Iain Forsyth is a British artist and filmmaker who works collaboratively with Jane Pollard. They met while studying at Goldsmiths College, graduating in 1995, and later completed an MA in Fine Art there in 2004. Their early work focused on performance and video art, often involving re-enactments and collaborations with musicians.

Forsyth and Pollard made their feature debut with the hybrid documentary 20,000 Days on Earth (2014), which they co-directed and co-wrote with Nick Cave. The film premiered at Sundance, where it won the World Cinema Directing Award, and received a BAFTA nomination for Best Documentary along with the Douglas Hickox Award at the British Independent Film Awards.

They have directed further features including Broken English (2025) and television projects such as episodes of Murder for the BBC and Likely Stories for Sky Arts. Their work spans installations, music videos and short films, with pieces held in collections including the Tate.
