Biography
Ian Campbell (1924–1993) was a Scottish actor and professional wrestler. Born in Dunfermline, Fife, he competed as a heavyweight, briefly holding the British Heavyweight Championship in 1966.
Campbell appeared in several television programmes, including as himself on Coronation Street in 1964 and in episodes of How We Used to Live (1969), Nearest and Dearest (1973) and Crown Court (1976). He is best known for playing Oak in the 1973 film The Wicker Man, on which he also contributed to the soundtrack.
He was involved in charity work and was inducted posthumously into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame for Scotland.
