Biography
Ian Gurvitz is a television writer, producer and creator. He wrote an episode of Frasier (1995) and contributed scripts to series including Wings (1993–1997), Becker (1998–2004) and The Exes (2011–2015). He created the series Charlie Hoover (1991), Normal Life (1990) and The Tony Danza Show (1997–1998), and served as executive producer or co-executive producer on multiple shows.
A native New Yorker, Gurvitz has lived in Los Angeles for over 30 years. He has produced more than 300 episodes of television and held studio term deals at New World/Tri-Star, NBC Studios and Paramount. Before entering the industry he earned a BA in Philosophy from Ithaca College, graduating cum laude, and pursued an MA in Buddhist Studies at Colgate University, which included a year living in Japan.
Gurvitz has written books on television development and politics, contributed to The Huffington Post, and teaches at Chapman University.
