Biography
Ian Somerhalder is an American actor. He is known for playing Boone Carlyle in the ABC series Lost (2004–2010) and Damon Salvatore in the CW series The Vampire Diaries (2009–2017).
Born in Covington, Louisiana, Somerhalder began modelling at the age of ten before turning to acting at seventeen. He studied with acting teacher William Esper and made his screen debut in the late 1990s. Early film roles include Life as a House (2001) and The Rules of Attraction (2002). He has also appeared in episodes of Smallville, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami.
