Biography
Icíar Bollaín Pérez-Mínguez is a Spanish director, screenwriter and actress. Born in Madrid in 1967, she began acting as a teenager, appearing in Víctor Erice's El Sur (1983) and as Maite in Ken Loach's Land and Freedom (1995).
She made her feature directorial debut with Hola, ¿estás sola? (1995). Subsequent films include Flores de otro mundo (1999), Te doy mis ojos (2003), which won seven Goya Awards, Even the Rain (2010), The Olive Tree (2016), Yuli (2018), Rosa's Wedding (2020) and Maixabel (2021). She has frequently collaborated with screenwriter Paul Laverty.
