Biography
Ilkka Koivula is a Finnish actor. He was born on 16 March 1966 in Ranua and graduated from the Theatre Academy Helsinki in 1990 with a master's degree in theatre arts.
He has appeared in numerous films and television productions since 1988, including several directed by Aki Kaurismäki. Notable roles include Lindholm in Lights in the Dusk (2006), The Italian in Le Havre (2011), Calamnius in The Other Side of Hope (2017), and Fighter Pilot in Sisu (2022). He also played Akseli Koskela in the Under the North Star films (2009–2010) and Vexi Salmi in Rentun Ruusu (2001).
Koivula has worked in theatres across Finland, including in Oulu, Tampere, Lahti, Rauma and Turku. He is the brother of actor Pertti Koivula.
