Biography
Ilse Dubois was a German costume designer. Born on 10 February 1922 in Schöneberg, Berlin, she studied fashion graphics at the Textil- und Modeschule des Lette-Vereins in Berlin. She began working as a costume designer for both stage and film in 1948.
Dubois contributed costumes to numerous German feature films of the 1950s and 1960s, including Ich denke oft an Piroschka (1955), Paths of Glory (1957) and Das Mädchen mit den Katzenaugen (1958). She collaborated with directors such as Kurt Hoffmann, Alfred Weidenmann and Bernhard Wicki. From the 1970s onwards she worked primarily in television, designing for series and made-for-television films.
In 2004 she shared the Filmpreis der Landeshauptstadt München with set designer Wolfgang Hundhammer.
