Biography
Ira H. Morgan was an American cinematographer. Born on 2 April 1889 in Fort Ross, California, he began his career as a cameraman with Gaumont News before working at Essanay Films. In 1919 he joined director King Vidor and went on to photograph films for major and independent studios including MGM, Warner Bros., Paramount and Monogram Pictures.
Morgan is credited as director of photography on Modern Times (1936), working alongside Roland Totheroh. Other credits include The Vampire Bat (1933), Jimmy the Gent (1934) and serials such as Jungle Jim (1948). He also filmed adventure features for Frank Buck. A member of the American Society of Cinematographers, he retired around 1956 after a final credit on The Cyclops (1957). He died on 10 April 1959 in San Rafael, California.
