Biography
Irene Bedard is an American actress. She was born on 22 July 1967 in Anchorage, Alaska, and is an enrolled citizen of the Native Village of Koyuk. She studied musical theatre at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Bedard is best known for providing the speaking voice of the title character in the animated film Pocahontas (1995) and its sequel Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World (1998). She also appeared as Suzy Song in Smoke Signals (1998) and as Pocahontas's mother in The New World (2005). Her earlier role as Mary Crow Dog in the television film Lakota Woman: Siege at Wounded Knee (1994) earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
