Biography
Chris Chase (born Irene Greengard, also credited as Irene Kane) was an American actress, model, journalist and writer. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, in 1924, she began as a Vogue model before entering acting under the name Irene Kane.
Her film roles included Gloria Price in Stanley Kubrick’s Killer’s Kiss (1955) and Leslie Perry in Bob Fosse’s All That Jazz (1979). She appeared on Broadway in productions such as The Threepenny Opera (1955) and Tenderloin (1960), and on television in Naked City and the soap opera Love of Life. As Chris Chase she worked as a journalist for The New York Times and wrote the memoir How to Be a Movie Star, or A Terrible Beauty Is Born (1974), as well as co-authoring several celebrity autobiographies. She was married to Michael Chase and died in New York City in 2013.
