Biography
Iris Berben is a German actress. She was born on 12 August 1950 in Detmold. After moving to Hamburg as a child, she left school without graduating and began appearing in short films at the Hamburg Art School in the late 1960s. Her screen debut came in 1968 with the film Der Mann mit dem Glasauge.
Berben has worked extensively in German television and film. She is known for roles in the long-running series Scene of the Crime (from 1970) and comedies such as Sketchup (1985–1986). International credits include Eddie the Eagle (2016) as Petra and Triangle of Sadness (2022) as Therese. She has received awards including the Bambi and the Golden Camera.
Her son, Oliver Berben, works as a film producer. She has also been recognised for her public engagement against antisemitism and right-wing extremism.
