Biography
Irma Kalish was an American television writer and producer. Born Irma May Ginsberg in New York City on 6 October 1924, she graduated from Syracuse University and began her career writing for radio, including The Martin and Lewis Show, alongside her husband Austin “Rocky” Kalish. The couple later wrote for numerous television series.
Kalish wrote episodes of I Dream of Jeannie (1965), All in the Family (1971–1973), The Bob Newhart Show (1972), Maude, Good Times, The Facts of Life and others. She also served as a producer on series including Good Times and Too Close for Comfort. She was a vice-president of the Writers Guild of America West and an early president of Women in Film. Kalish died on 3 September 2021 in Woodland Hills, California.
