In Run Away (2026), a family disclosure soon gives way to another urgent question. Isher Sahota shares directing duties with Nimer Rashed, and they understand how to keep this sort of programme moving. The trouble is the insistence that every development matters enormously. We grew tired of it: the editing leaves too little relief from the melodrama for the family troubles to feel credible. Sahota comes across as a capable thriller director who could usefully ease off.

His early shorts include Singularity (2016) and Jinn (2017), followed by more than 30 episodes of Doctors (2018–2020). That stretch of continuing drama helps explain the decisiveness and emphasis on pace. Episodes of Father Brown (2022) and Grace (2023) came before the Harlan Coben adaptations Missing You (2025) and Run Away. These assignments have given him considerable practice at keeping a serial story going.

The Effects of Lying (2023) takes him into comedy-drama about British Asian family life. It was his first feature-length project under his own production company. Producer Jon Tarcy, a co-founder of Bonaparte Films, is a recurring collaborator. Goodnight Henry (2022), with its mixture of comedy, drama and thriller elements, also suggests that Sahota's interests extend beyond keeping a mystery busy.

The strongest reason to persist with Run Away is James Nesbitt, who keeps it involving even when the twists become difficult to believe. The family secrets carry some weight, but the performances cannot always withstand the melodramatic handling. Sahota and Rashed maintain momentum at the expense of quieter passages that might make those disclosures easier to take seriously. Start with Run Away if family-secret thrillers are your preference; patience with melodrama will be useful.
