Biography
Issaka Sawadogo, also credited as Isaka Sawadogo, is a Burkinabé actor. Born on 18 May 1966 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, he has built a career working between his native country and Norway, where he has served as a cultural consultant at the National Theatre in Oslo and performed with Det Norske Teatret and Torshov Theatre. He is a founder member of the Carrefour International de Théâtre de Ouagadougou.
Sawadogo is noted for his leading performances in the Canadian film Diego Star (2013), for which he received a Prix Jutra nomination for Best Actor, and the Dutch film The Paradise Suite (2015), for which he won the Golden Calf for Best Actor. He has appeared in supporting and leading roles in Night of the Kings (2020), Io Capitano (2023) as Martin, In His Shadow (2023) and No Chains, No Masters (2024).
