Biography
Ivan Triesault (born Johann Constantin Treisalt) was an Estonian-American character actor and dancer. He was born on 13 July 1898 in Reval (now Tallinn), then part of the Russian Empire, and died on 3 January 1980 in Los Angeles.
Triesault began appearing on stage in Estonia as a teenager before moving to the United States at the age of 18. He trained in acting and dance, performed at Radio City Music Hall and on Broadway, and made his film debut in 1943. He appeared in more than 120 film and television productions between 1943 and 1969, often playing foreign officials or authority figures.
His notable film roles include Eric Mathis in Notorious (1946), Von Ellstein in The Bad and the Beautiful (1952), and Professor Göteborg in Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959). He also appeared in Von Ryan's Express (1965), the 1966 Batman film and television series, and episodes of Mission: Impossible and The Wild Wild West.
