Biography
J. Allen Highfill was an American costume designer who worked in film and television from the mid-1970s until his death. His credits include costume design on Heaven's Gate (1980) and Breathless (1983), as well as wardrobe supervision on A Wedding (1978). He contributed to several Robert Altman productions in the 1970s, including Nashville (1975), Buffalo Bill and the Indians (1976) and Quintet (1979).
Highfill designed costumes for the anthology series Faerie Tale Theatre (1982–1984) and episodes of Murder, She Wrote (1984–1985) and Tall Tales & Legends (1985–1986). He received an ACE Award for costume design on Faerie Tale Theatre. His stage work included costume design for the Broadway production Appearing Nitely (1977).
Highfill was born on 5 July 1947 and died on 5 July 1989 in Los Angeles.
