Biography
J. Elvis Weinstein, also credited as Josh Weinstein, is an American writer, producer and performer. He began performing stand-up comedy at the age of 15 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At 17 he joined the original cast and writing team of the cult series Mystery Science Theater 3000 (1988–1990), providing the voice and puppeteering for Tom Servo and Gypsy, and playing Dr. Laurence Erhardt.
After leaving the series he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a writer and producer on network comedies including Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000). He adopted the professional name J. Elvis Weinstein to distinguish himself from another writer of the same name. He later served as head writer on America's Funniest Home Videos and Later with Greg Kinnear. In 2008 he reunited with former Mystery Science Theater 3000 colleagues for the live show and DVD series Cinematic Titanic.
