Biography
Jack Mendelsohn (8 November 1926 – 25 January 2017) was an American writer and artist who worked across animation, comic strips, comic books and television. He co-wrote the screenplay for the Beatles animated feature Yellow Submarine (1968) with Lee Minoff, Al Brodax and Erich Segal.
Mendelsohn contributed to the earlier Beatles Saturday-morning cartoon series and later wrote for numerous television programmes, including episodes of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, The Carol Burnett Show, Three's Company and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987). He received Emmy nominations for his television work and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Animation Writers Caucus of the Writers Guild in 2004, followed by the Bill Finger Award in 2014.
He also wrote and drew the comic strip Jacky's Diary (1959–1961) and contributed gag cartoons and stories to magazines and comic books early in his career.
