Biography
Jack Starrett (also credited as Claude Ennis Starrett Jr.) was an American actor and film director. Born in Refugio, Texas, he worked in the oil fields before moving to Hollywood, where he began acting in the early 1960s and later directed feature films and television episodes.
As a director, Starrett helmed episodes of series including Hill Street Blues (1981), Starsky & Hutch (1975) and The Dukes of Hazzard (1979–1980), as well as films such as Cleopatra Jones (1973), Race with the Devil (1975) and A Small Town in Texas (1976). He also appeared as an actor in films including Blazing Saddles (1974) and First Blood (1982). Starrett died in 1989.
