Biography
Jackie 'Butch' Jenkins, born Jack Dudley Jenkins, was an American child actor. He made his film debut at the age of six as Ulysses Macauley in The Human Comedy (1943). The son of actress Doris Dudley, he was discovered by an MGM talent scout while playing on a Santa Monica beach.
Jenkins appeared in a series of MGM films during the 1940s, including National Velvet (1944) as Donald Brown, Our Vines Have Tender Grapes (1945), Boys' Ranch (1946) and My Brother Talks to Horses (1947). He received star billing in Boys' Ranch. His final screen roles were in 1948 films such as The Bride Goes Wild, Summer Holiday and Big City.
He retired from acting at the age of eleven after developing a stutter. In later years he worked in water systems and ran car washes. Jenkins died in Asheville, North Carolina, in 2001.
