Biography
Jacob Groth is a Danish film and television composer. Born on 12 May 1951 in Copenhagen, he began his career as a rock musician before turning to film scoring in the late 1970s, initially for student films at the Danish Film School. He has since composed for more than 30 films and numerous television series.
Groth is best known for his scores for the Millennium trilogy films: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009) and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (2009). He has maintained long-term collaborations with directors including Niels Arden Oplev and Søren Kragh-Jacobsen, and has scored international productions such as Dead Man Down (2013) and the CBS series Unforgettable.
He has received two Danish Film Academy Awards and five International Emmy Awards. Groth is married to singer and songwriter Misen Groth, who has contributed vocals and lyrics to several of his works.
