Biography
Jacob Shea is an American composer. He graduated from the University of California with a degree in music composition. He has worked with composers including Elliot Goldenthal, Steve Jablonsky, Henry Jackman and Hans Zimmer, and is a lead composer at Bleeding Fingers Music.
Shea co-composed the score for the BBC series Planet Earth II (2016) alongside Jasha Klebe and Hans Zimmer, who wrote the main theme. His other credits for the Planet Earth franchise include Blue Planet II (2017), Seven Worlds, One Planet (2019) and Planet Earth III (2023). He has also composed for Pagan Peak (2019) and Hagen (2024).
Shea has received Primetime Emmy nominations for his documentary scores, including for Planet Earth II and Planet Earth III, and BMI awards for other television work.
