Biography
Jacques Doniol-Valcroze (15 March 1920 – 6 October 1989) was a French actor, film critic, screenwriter and director. Born in Paris, he co-founded the film magazine Cahiers du cinéma in 1951 with André Bazin and Joseph-Marie Lo Duca, and edited it until 1957.
He appeared as the 2nd Caller in Chantal Akerman's Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975). Other acting credits include Orpheus (1950), The Immortal One (1963), Out 1 (1971) and The Crook (1970). He directed films such as L'Eau à la bouche (1960) and served on the jury of the 14th Berlin International Film Festival in 1964.
