Biography
Jacques Weber is a French actor, director and writer. Born on 23 August 1949 in Paris, he trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique, from which he graduated with the Prix d'Excellence. He began his career in the theatre, joining Robert Hossein’s company in Reims and later serving as director of the Centre dramatique national in Lyon (1979–1985) and the Théâtre de Nice (1986–2001).
Weber is known for his stage performances in classical roles, including numerous appearances as Cyrano de Bergerac. On screen he played the Count of Guiche in Jean-Paul Rappeneau’s Cyrano de Bergerac (1990), a role that earned him the César Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has also directed for film and television, including Don Juan (1998) and a 2008 adaptation of Figaro.
