Biography
Jalmari Helander (born 21 July 1976) is a Finnish film director and screenwriter. He was born in Helsinki.
Helander is known for writing and directing the feature films Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010), Big Game (2014) and Sisu (2022). He has also directed episodes of television series including Wingman (2017–2018) and earlier short films and commercials. In 2025 he wrote and directed the sequel Sisu: Road to Revenge.
He is the brother-in-law of actor Jorma Tommila and uncle of Onni Tommila, both of whom have appeared in his films.
