Biography
James J. Agazzi was an American art director and production designer. Born on 23 October 1940 in Joliet, Illinois, he earned a master's degree in theatre arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. He began his career as an art director on television specials for Bob Hope and Danny Thomas, and designed the original sets for game shows including The Price is Right and Match Game.
Agazzi worked as art director on Hart to Hart (1979–1984), for which he received an Emmy nomination, and as production designer on Moonlighting (1985–1989). He won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Art Direction for a Series for the latter in 1989. His other credits include production design or art direction on series such as Starsky and Hutch, Sanford and Son and Square Pegs, as well as numerous television films and miniseries.
He received a total of eight Emmy nominations. Agazzi later wrote and directed the short film A Window That Opens (2001).
