Biography
James L. Carter is an American cinematographer working in film and television. He attended the San Francisco Art Institute and began his career as a production assistant on the film Carrie (1976), later serving as a camera operator on several productions before becoming a director of photography from 1979 onwards.
His film credits as cinematographer include One False Move (1992), My Dog Skip (2000), Tuck Everlasting (2002), The Shape of Things (2003), Sleepover (2004) and Ladder 49 (2004). He has also worked on television series such as Michael Hayes (for which he received an American Society of Cinematographers Award nomination), Family Law and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, as well as numerous television movies.
