Biography
James Leung Wah-Sing, also credited as Leung Wah-Sing, James Leung or 梁華生, is a Hong Kong production designer and art director. He graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design in 1982 and began working in film special effects on Tsui Hark’s Zu: The Warriors from the Magic Mountain (1983). From 1984 he focused on art direction and costume design.
He contributed to more than thirty films during Hong Kong cinema’s golden era, including Bullet in the Head (1990), Once a Thief (1991), Hard Boiled (1992), Swordsman II (1992), The Legend II (1993), A Chinese Odyssey Part One – Pandora’s Box (1995), The God of Cookery (1996) and Knock Off (1998). He has received eight nominations for Best Art Direction at the Hong Kong Film Awards and Golden Horse Awards.
Since the mid-1990s Leung has also directed commercials. In 2000 he founded Mutual Workshop and has worked on stage and concert productions as well as exploring AI and virtual production techniques.
