Biography
James Murray is an English actor. Born in Manchester, he trained at Malvern College on a Classics scholarship and holds a degree in film.
His television roles include Stephen Hart in Primeval (2007–2008), Niles Pottinger in Defiance (2013–2014), Daniel Coltrane in Cucumber (2015), Chief Superintendent John Houseman in McDonald & Dodds (2020–2021), Prince Andrew in The Crown (2022–2023) and Colonel Neil 'Chick' Harding in Masters of the Air (2024). Film credits include Caleb in 6 Underground (2019) and Colonel Spencer in Lee (2024). He has been married to actress Sarah Parish since 2007. Murray and Parish were both appointed MBE in the 2025 New Year Honours.
