Biography
James Newberry is a film and television composer. His credits include the original score for Is This Thing On? (2025), directed by Bradley Cooper, and Barron's Cove (2025), directed by Evan Kelman.
Newberry has composed for feature films, documentaries and shorts that have screened at festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, NYFF and Cannes. His documentary Natchez (2025) won the Best Documentary Feature Award at the Tribeca Festival. He has also contributed additional music to television series such as Presumed Innocent, Tokyo Vice, Ozark and Fear the Walking Dead.
A classically trained percussionist, Newberry performs on clarinet, piano, hardware synthesizers and experimental strings. He is based in California.
