Biography
James Woolf was a British film producer. With his brother John Woolf he co-founded the production companies Romulus Films and Remus Films in the late 1940s. He was the son of producer C. M. Woolf.
Woolf produced or co-produced a number of British and international films, including Room at the Top (1958), The L-Shaped Room (1962), Term of Trial (1962), The Pumpkin Eater (1964), Of Human Bondage (1964) and King Rat (1965). He worked with directors such as Jack Clayton and Bryan Forbes, and the brothers' company handled UK distribution for films including The African Queen (1951). Room at the Top received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
Woolf died in Beverly Hills, California, in May 1966 while on a trip to discuss future projects.
