Biography
Jan Miserre is a German composer and jazz pianist. Born in Erlangen in 1981, he studied jazz piano at the University of the Arts in Berlin. He began his career as a sideman, touring with artists including Sarah Connor and Moby, and performed with jazz musicians such as Torsten Goods, Nils Wülker and Till Brönner.
Miserre often works in collaboration with composer John Gürtler. Their joint film scores include The Outrun (2024), A Mouthful of Air (2021), For Jojo (2022), Space Dogs (2019) and Veins of the World (2020). He has received the GEMA Musikautorenpreis in the New Talent category (with Goods) and the German Documentary Music Prize (with Gürtler and Lars Voges) for Above and Below (2015). He was also awarded the Preis der deutschen Filmkritik for best music on A Pure Place (2021).
