Biography
Jane Galloway Heitz was an American actress and casting director. Based in Chicago, she operated her own casting agency from the 1960s until selling it in 1997, helping to launch the careers of actors including Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Richard Kind and Eric Stonestreet. She was married to television producer and director Bill Heitz from 1965 until his death in 2002.
Heitz turned to acting full-time in her mid-fifties. She made her feature debut as Dorothy in David Lynch’s The Straight Story (1999). Subsequent screen credits included guest roles in ER (2004), Grey’s Anatomy (2005), Monk (2007), The Big Bang Theory (2009), Glee (2009–2015) as Lillian Adler, and Shameless (2012). She also appeared in stage productions with Chicago companies such as Remy Bumppo and Rivendell Theatre Ensemble. Heitz died on 13 November 2019 in Highland Park, Illinois, aged 78.
