Biography
Janet Armstrong (born Janet Elizabeth Shearon) appeared as herself in archival footage in the 2019 documentary Apollo 11. She was the first wife of astronaut Neil Armstrong. They met at Purdue University, where she studied home economics, and married in 1956; the couple divorced in 1994.
Born on 23 March 1934 in Wilmette, Illinois, Armstrong had three children with Neil Armstrong: sons Rick (born 1957) and Mark (born 1963), and daughter Karen (1959–1961). She died on 21 June 2018 in West Chester, Ohio.
