Biography
Janusz Głowacki was a Polish playwright, essayist and screenwriter. Born in Poznań in 1938, he studied Polish philology at the University of Warsaw, graduating in 1961. He began his career writing short stories and satirical articles before turning to film and theatre.
His screenwriting credits include co-writing The Cruise (1970) and writing Hunting Flies (1969) and This Love Must Be Killed (1972). Later works encompass the screenplay for Wałęsa: Man of Hope (2013) and a co-writing credit on Cold War (2018). He emigrated to the United States in the early 1980s, where he taught creative writing and had several plays produced.
Głowacki received a Guggenheim Fellowship and other honours. He died in Egypt in 2017.
