Biography
Jarl Kulle was a Swedish stage and screen actor. He trained at the Royal Dramatic Theatre's acting school, graduating in 1949, and remained a member of the ensemble until 1995, appearing in dozens of plays. He also performed in musicals, notably as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady at Oscarsteatern in Stockholm from 1959.
Kulle appeared in numerous films, including several directed by Ingmar Bergman. He played Count Carl Magnus Malcolm in Smiles of a Summer Night (1955) and Gustav Adolf Ekdahl in Fanny and Alexander (1982), a role for which he received a Guldbagge Award. Other credits include General Lorens Löwenhielm in Babette's Feast (1987) and Don Juan in The Devil's Eye (1960). He also directed a number of films in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
