Biography
Jay Gruska is an American composer, songwriter, music producer and arranger. Born on 23 April 1952 in Brooklyn, New York, he has composed scores for dozens of television series and films, with over 500 hours of television music aired internationally.
His television credits include thirtysomething, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Charmed, Better Things (2016) and fifteen seasons of Supernatural. He has also scored numerous television movies and feature films including Commando (1985), The Principal (1987) and Mo' Money (1992). Gruska has received three Emmy Award nominations, one Genie Award nomination and eleven ASCAP awards.
As a songwriter he has written or co-written hits recorded by artists including Chicago, Bette Midler, Michael Jackson and Amy Grant. He was previously married to Jennifer Williams, daughter of composer John Williams.
