Biography
Jean Heywood (born Jean Murray) was an English actress. Born on 15 July 1921 in Blyth, Northumberland, she died on 14 September 2019 in East Sussex. She began her screen career in the late 1960s with television appearances in adaptations of Nana and Germinal, later becoming known for a range of character roles in British television drama and soap operas.
Her most prominent television role was as Bella Seaton in the BBC series When the Boat Comes In (1976–77). She also appeared in Leave It to Charlie, All Creatures Great and Small, Casualty, The Bill and Jeeves and Wooster. In film, she played Grandma in Billy Elliot (2000). Heywood was married to Roland Heywood from 1945 until his death in 1996; they had three children.
