Biography
Jean Mousselle was a French cinematographer, director and writer. He began his career in the camera department, working as an assistant camera operator on The Rules of the Game (1939) and later as camera operator on films including Jour de fête (1949).
Mousselle shared cinematography duties with Jacques Mercanton on Jacques Tati’s Monsieur Hulot's Holiday (1953). He directed the short Paris présente... le mime Marceau (1953) and the feature Le Pain vivant (1955), for which François Mauriac wrote the screenplay and dialogue. He also directed the 1955 short Le Chemin de l'étoile.
Mousselle was born on 15 November 1918 in Verberie, Oise, and died on 3 October 2006 in Gourdon, Alpes-Maritimes.
