Biography
Jean-Pierre Lorit is a French actor born on 29 November 1960 in Paris. After training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, he appeared in numerous stage productions from the 1980s onwards. His most internationally recognised screen role is as Auguste in Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colors: Red (1994).
Lorit has worked with directors including Claude Sautet in Nelly & Monsieur Arnaud (1995) and André Téchiné in Alice and Martin (1998). He received a César nomination for Most Promising Actor for Une affaire de goût (2000) and a Molière nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in August Strindberg's Créanciers (2005, directed by Hélène Vincent).
